We’ve been busy behind the scenes and are very excited to announce that we are taking the first steps to a return to face-to-face meetings. Thanks to the Methodist Church, we will, in future, have a way of members attending our meetings both in person or online, whether the speaker is in Buckland Brewer or elsewhere in the world. We are proud to be one of the first groups of our kind to be able to offer hybrid meetings of this sort. As soon as the regulations allow indoor meetings of more than six, we are looking forward to welcoming back those who were unable to join us via Zoom, as well as being able to continue to involve those from away who have loyally joined in our online meetings.
We rescheduled this month’s meeting in the hope that we might be able to begin this straight away but sadly, with the extension of restrictions on indoor gatherings, we can’t start yet. So please don’t turn up in person until further notice; in any case we may have to have a booking system if social distancing is still required.
Instead, as a test, our speaker this month, David Blight, will speak from the Methodist Church but apart from Dave Watson who will act as technician, the rest of us will still be at home. We hope you will bear with us while we climb the steep learning curve familiarising ourselves with the technology. David is going to talk to us about the Buckland Brewer Band of Hope, which was very active in the parish for many years, so it promises to be a very interesting meeting. The online meeting will start at 7.30pm British Summer Time on Wednesday 23 June. Guests are welcome for the nominal sum of £3, please get in touch if you would like to join us.
