T01.04 There remaineth a rest for the people of God Sacred to the memory of Catherine eldest daughter of Thomas and Mary Reed of Down in the parish of Newton St Petrock who after a long illness which she bore with christian fortitude died on the 12th day of June in the year of our Lord 1869 Aged 27 years I was cut off while in my prime from friends and prospects bright To dwell in a far happier clime among the Saints in light Kind friends strove hard life to prolong but cares and prayers were vain Thy will be done – be now their song who wants for us wast slain?     Could someone tell me if Blight was changed to Bright?? can not find any Bright’s but plenty of Blight’s. Gulped my dinner down to keep looking – a sooooooooooooooooooooooo enjoying this – thank you

  2. A comment on the Blight – Bright surname. My own family are Blight, however my earliest ancestor was a Robert Bright who married in Langtree mid 18th C.. There were 11 children all christened as Bright. My own line changed permanently to Blight in the mid/late 19th C. All the other lines from Robert kept the Bright spelling.
