House History and Buckland Leases

Eleven members gathered on Sunday to seek information about their Buckland Brewer homes. We enthusiastically searched censuses, land tax records, school admissions’ registers, books, leases, electoral rolls, gravestones and valuation office rolls. Everyone went away with a little more knowledge.

Some original documents relating to Buckland Brewer have been offered for sale recently. Unfortunately we do not know who has purchased them. If anyone has, or knows anyone who has, original  documents, such as deeds, leases, maps or rent lists that relate to Buckland’s history we would be very grateful if we could arrange to look at them or copy  them, at our expense. Thank you.

Now we look forward to our regular meeting on 19th February, when we will hear about Hartland Archives.
