What we Showed and Shared – aspects of Buckland and other History

Wow – what a meeting last night. We were crammed to the rafters again as various members showed and shared. We watched the aerial video of the village, learnt about the significance of church fonts, looked at some of the fascinating finds that were dug up when the metal detectors came to the village and saw some weapons found in a local farm and which may date from the seventeenth century. Others showed books of family memories and memorabilia relating to a submarine disaster. We saw the book of the village compiled in 1965 by the local WI and we plan to do something similar next year. We heard about the amazing start that has been made on our Tomorrow’s History journal. I think though that the prize has to go to the story of the local goose who had a love affair with a watering can!
