Our next meeting is on Wednesday 15th January in the Church School Room at 7.30. £1 for members and £2 for non-members. Several members will be sharing aspects of Buckland Brewer’s past and other historical topics. There will be plenty of documents to look at as well as photographs and artefacts.
On the afternoon of Sunday 16th February we will be running a drop in session so that members can be helped with tracing the history of their Buckland home, or the land on which it stands.
On the research front, thanks to the recent availability of wills proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on Ancestry, we now hold copies of all these wills for Buckland Brewer residents. Copyright prevents us from passing on copies but we can comment on what these documents contain. A list can be found here.
We now have a few copies of Devon Family History Society’s transcriptions of the Buckland Brewer school registers for sale. These are in two volumes 1877-1889 and 1890-1911 and are £2 each. If you wish these to be posted please ask us for details of postage costs.
